• Overcoming Injuries with Chiropractic Care

    on Feb 21st, 2019

Injuries are a part of life, especially for active men and women. When you get injured, chiropractic care can help you overcome your pain and restore your functionality. Chiropractic care offers a safe, effective, drug-free way to recover from an injury.

At City Chiropractic and Wellness in New York City, Dr. Max Heller and his team of skilled practitioners provide chiropractic care to treat a wide range of injuries. Read on to learn what chiropractic care is and how it can help you if you get injured.

What is chiropractic care?

Chiropractic care is a hands-on system in which Dr. Heller performs precise, gentle adjustments — also known as manipulations — to correct misalignments in your spine. These adjustments can help reduce stress on your spinal nerves and relieve pain, which in turn can have a positive impact on your entire body.

Chiropractic care may provide relief by itself or when used in conjunction with other treatments, such as physical therapy or therapeutic massage. It can also help speed up recuperation in men and women who receive surgery or other invasive treatments.

Chiropractic care takes a whole-person approach to your well-being. In addition to performing spinal manipulation, Dr. Heller and his team incorporate exercise, nutrition, changes in sleep habits, stress reduction, and other holistic approaches to bring about healing.

What to expect

When you visit City Chiropractic and Wellness for injury care, Dr. Heller will talk with you about your health history, order imaging or lab tests you may need, and perform a physical examination to better understand your injury.

During your physical examination, Dr. Heller will check your range of motion, muscle tone, strength, and posture.

If chiropractic care is right for you, Dr. Heller will perform a series of adjustments on your spine. You’ll lie on a specially designed chiropractic table while Dr. Heller uses his hands to manipulate the joints of your back or other body parts.

When Dr. Heller makes adjustments, you may hear or feel a slight popping. This is normal. And you may feel relief immediately or after several appointments. Many patients report feeling more relaxed after getting adjustments. You may also feel slightly sore after a session, but it shouldn’t last long.

Dr. Heller will design your overall treatment plan with your specific health needs in mind. In addition to adjustments, Dr. Heller may perform or recommend other treatments, such as therapeutic ultrasound, electrical muscle stimulation, exercises, or therapeutic massage. He may also suggest using heat or ice to help with pain.

If you’ve experienced an injury, Dr. Heller and the supportive, experienced health care team at City Chiropractic and Wellness can help. To make an appointment, call our office or use the convenient online booking feature.
